Welcome and Introduction
If you have been wondering how you can find out who took a screenshot of your story on Instagram, you're in the right place because today in this article we'll see if we can do that. All you need to do is follow along with me until the very end of this video. Let's jump right into it!
Update the Instagram App
Before we start, we need to get something out of the way. Let's go ahead and open your Play Store or App Store, depending on what device you're using. Search for Instagram and make sure the app is updated to the latest version for everything to work properly.
Testing the Screenshot Detection
After updating the app, you can quit the store and head over to Instagram.
Now, we’ll need two accounts to test this out.
First Account: The one that uploads the story.
Second Account: The one that will take a screenshot of the story.
Open the first account. Tap on "Your Story" in the top left corner and choose a picture to add to your story.
For this test, I’ll add it to my close friends and ensure the account I suspect is selected.
Switch to the second account and open the story posted by the first account.
Take a screenshot of the story.
Checking for Screenshot Notifications
Switch back to the first account.
Open the story and tap "Activity" in the bottom left corner. It will only show the viewers, but no screenshot notification.
Check your notifications in the top right corner—again, nothing appears.
Conclusion: Instagram does not notify you if someone takes a screenshot of your story. This feature is not available on Instagram yet.
What Instagram Notifies You Of
Let’s look at the type of screenshots Instagram does notify you about.
Send a disappearing picture:
Tap on the bottom left corner of the chat to send a disappearing photo.
Tap "Send" in the bottom right corner.
Switch accounts and open the disappearing picture.
Take a screenshot of the disappearing picture.
When you switch back to the first account, you’ll see a circle at the bottom right of the disappearing photo. This is the screenshot notification. Instagram only alerts you if someone screenshots a disappearing picture.
